A Penny For Your Thoughts
May 1st
It’s late, I’ve been working like a dog recently, The Wife is in the homestretch of pregnancy, and just about every other facet of my life seems to be up in the air here of late. Mostly these are all good things but forming cognitive sentences not I’m good at the moment.
So as opposed to a well thought out article with a clever take on something going on in the world I figured I’d basically just do a brain dump on you here. Welcome back the tried and true Quick Quips format…

Star Power
Apr 27th
If Fox's "Cosmos" has taught us anything it's that all the power in the universe comes from the stars
It’s a tale of two cities as far as our playoff teams are concerned. Sure both the Blackhawks and the Bulls share a common address, color scheme, and organizational pedigree, but there is a significant difference between the United Center’s two tenants and it has more to do with the stars in the sky than their organizational roots in the ground.

Deng… I Can’t Believe They Did It
Jan 7th
Well played today John. The move was calculated and astute. When did Walter White start running the Bulls?
In what has become an otherwise empty Bulls season, where for the second straight year there wasn’t much the team could do that would move the needle in town that didn’t involve the words “Derek” & “Rose,” all of a sudden the Bulls are the talk of the NBA. We’ll in the nerdy circles of the NBA that is.
Late Monday night John Paxon and Gar Foreman pulled the trigger on a deal to send the longest tenured Bull – and all around amazing More >

Watching With Your WAG: 2013-14 Chicago Bulls
Oct 30th
With the NBA season kicking off on Tuesday and the Bulls having high expectations attached to them heading into the year, I thought it a good time to break out the primer to getting your wife and/or girlfriend to find watching their games with you enjoyable at best and tolerable at worst. If your loved one is anything like mine, the key is to get them emotionally invested in the individual players and their stories. You need to find a way to summarize your favorite team(s) players as US Weekly would. Without further ado, let me introduce your 2013-14 Chicago Bulls to More >
Around The Horn Part Deux
May 14th
I did this bit just a few weeks ago but some things have changed and some things have not. I don’t much feel up to writing whole posts about any of the blurbs below so I’m just going to put them out there; if you like it you can take it, and if you don’t you can send it right back.
The Cubs
I am a huge fan of the Anthony Rizzo extension. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it never hurts to be the smart team. Locking up your young cheap talent early, to long term team friendly deals is More >
Around The Horn
Apr 22nd
Wait… don’t click away. This isn’t the schticky ESPN program, and Woody Paige is no where to be found in these annals. I want to take a quick loop around Chicago sports this morning as I think each of our teams currently finds themselves in a defining moment for the 2013 calendar year. I would be remiss if I were to let this moment pass without taking note.
The Fragile
It’s over Bulls fans. I harbor no ill-will or animosity towards anyone involved, but it’s just not your year. If you would, please look to the right and under the CATEGORIES drop down More >

May The 2012-13 Bulls RIP
Mar 17th
I don’t understand the state of the fans of the Chicago Bulls these days. As the greater Chicagoland area lives and dies with the latest voice-to-talk-the-loudest about the state of Derrick Rose’s knee, my question to everyone is, what exactly were your expectations coming into this year?
I haven’t invested many words nor many viewing hours in the 2012-13 Chicago Bulls as I feel as though I’ve used the space that has been dedicated to them to make my stance quite clear (for the uninitiated please see here and here). This year was not to be for our fair basketball team. I More >
A Breath of Fresh Air
Jan 4th
While many of you were still shaking off the cob webs from the night before, visiting WebMD.com to confirm that a Brain Cloud is in fact not a real malady, the Chicago sports media was gathered at Halas Hall on New Year’s Day to hear Bears General Manager Phil Emery offer his rationale for the firing of Lovie Smith twenty-four hours earlier. In what can only be described a breath of fresh air, the new Bears GM, who had previously only spoken to the media on the day he was hired last spring and then again during the bye week this season, More >
The Smart Side of the Ledger
Jul 18th
Times they are a changing on the Chicago sports scene. I honestly cannot say that there has been a time in this city’s history (at least in my lifetime) where each of our sporting franchises have been in such good hands from a front office perspective. Let’s take a lap around the various franchises for a quick peak at the brains percolating behind the scenes.
The Cubs
The Cubs are in the midst of a 13-5 run, easily their best of the season, and yet the front office is not losing focus of the big picture which involves reloading the entire system More >
Feeling Bully About The Future
Jul 3rd
While the NHL world collectively holds their breath (all seventeen of us) for Zack Parise to make up his mind where he will call home next year, I thought I’d use this opportunity to chime in on the other red, white, and black clad tenants of the United Center. The Bulls are entering an interesting period in their opportunity forecasting. While not a complete waste of a calendar year, the 2012-13 season is one where little promise is on the horizon for Los Toros and it’s up to John Paxon and Gar Forman to steer the ship and successfully navigate More >
