It’s that time again ladies and gentlemen.  In a recent poll conducted by a very professional agency (me) who does these things, red blooded Americans (namely my mom) were asked for their favorite running internet posts, and I am pleased to announce that our very own Quick Quips ran away with the top honors.  I feel as though I’ve deprived you of late so here goes nothing.  As always, please enjoy for following blurbs and thoughts on various things going on in the world around us.

  • The Wife and I watched HBO’s True Detective this week.  One episode in and I’m sold.  This is the best work Matthew McConaughey has ever done (admittedly there’s a tallest midget joke in there somewhere).  A word to the wise however, if you have HBO I’d strongly suggest catching up on it now as we’re only one episode in.  After the first sixty minutes I can tell you already that anyone who waits until the end and tries to binge watch this thing is going to come out a changed man on the other side.  Get in now people, I beg of you…
  • Things I’ve discovered I don’t care a lick about:

1)      Baseball Hall of Fame voting – get over yourselves BBWAA

2)      Cubs mascots – it’s a frickin’ man in a bear suit created to sell merchandise people, calm down

3)      Miley Cyrus’ love life – not even a little bit

4)      Chris Christie blocking traffic – it’s New Jersey, did you expect anything different?

  • This kid is going to get to put his hand up some lucky girl’s shirt…

  • I’m not sure bringing Mel Tucker back as the Bears Defensive Coordinator was a good idea.  I trust Phil Emery and Marc Trestman’s decisions in general so I’ll defer to them but just know that I’m watching you Mel, I’m watching you…
  • I love everything about this.  The fact that he’s wearing a poncho, the fact that he has to go into his parked car to film this (I assume to hide that he smokes from his parents and yet has no issue broadcasting this to the rest of the world), the life lessons, his feigned indifference to the video that he deemed worthy of making – let alone sharing, the soundtrack… I could go on – just watch…

  • The Walking Dead marathon that I DVR’d over New Years on AMC is going to be the end of me.  For two straight weeks I find myself going to bed after 1am as this is easily the best (worst?) show I’ve ever seen where you talk yourself into at least just starting the next episode when the previous one ends and before you know it you find yourself three hours in.  Damn you zombies.  To the show’s credit I do believe we’re all infected because I’ve been walking around like the undead for a good fifteen straight days.
  • If and when I get fired from gainful employment, this is the way I want to go out…

That’s all I’ve got for this time around ladies and gentlemen.  Have a fantastic weekend and a Happy Friday!
