Operating Outside of the Space-Time Continuum

The nexus of the universe
Last weekend as the world’s eyes turned to Sochi, a much smaller fraction of the population found their way to the north woods of Wisconsin for a tradition much more frequent and much more personal than any Olympic games.
I’ve written in the past (here and here) about my annual pilgrimage to Eagle River, WI each February to participate in the US Pond Hockey Championships. It’s easily my favorite weekend of the year. How can you argue with re-connecting with a group of friends who only get together from our various corners of the country for this single More >

Always The Mascot, Never The Master

Last weekend a hearty band of young men from across this great land of ours repacked their bags and pointed their compasses to the northwoods in an attempt to capture an elusive glory that slipped just beyond their grip just one short year ago. For those new to this space click here for the backstory.
Eagle River, WI is a magical place in its own right (you have yet to live until you try a butter steak from Blink Bonnie’s), however for one weekend each February (and maybe two if you are a fan of their Snowmobile Championships as well) it has the More >

For a hockey fan and sports purist it truly was one of the greatest scenes to unfold before these eyes. This was two and three generations coming together to play the sport they love for all of the right reasons that have nothing to do with fame or money or greed. It was simply sport at its truest core and somehow I was able to More >
Just Keep Moving

Good day to you merry readers, I hope this post finds you well. I’d like to officially appologize as I have definitely strayed from my ideal Monday/Wednesday/Friday posting here of late as my life has been a bit hectic. In the past month I’ve gone from New Orleans to Ft. Lauderdale then on to Las Vegas and back west to Vancouver. Stopping in Chicago between each stop sometime for as little as 12 hours and never more than for four days. I’m tired to say the least and I still have a few more legs laying out before me. On More >
