Happy Friday everyone! Feel free to drop any of this knowledge in conversation at whatever Kentucky Derby party you attend tomorrow.
Character Flaws
Apr 25th
We’ve all got them. It’s unfortunate but true. Here are a few of mine:
- When I hear someone speak with an accent I can’t help but mimic it. I’m pretty sure it comes off as very insulting to the individual but you have to believe me when I say that I have no control over it. There were some very difficult drunken moments during my semester abroad in London.
- I am judgmental of people who wear athletic jerseys socially. A hockey sweater – not a problem. Soccer is next most acceptable followed by baseball and football. I guess my real peeve is More >
Well Hell…
Mar 14th
It’s been a fun week but one that has not left much time for typing. Fear not however as I have some good stuff on the way for you in the week to come. We’re talking ground breaking shit here. In the meantime I thought I’d hype up the video below a little more than the eleven million other people who have seen it could. I’m not a fan of NASCAR and I don’t drink Pepsi but on both accounts I pass my kudos here.
Enjoy the video, come back next week, and thank you as always for reading.
Happy Friday everyone!!!

Soooo….
Jan 31st
A little factoid that you may or may not be interested in is that I enjoy a nice cup of tea in the evenings as something warm to sooth me as The Wife and I watch our stories. This evening started no different than any other with my going back into the kitchen to make a second cup for myself reheating the water in the kettle and using what remained of The Wife and my tea bags from earlier. I’ve found that if I repurpose both of the used bags from earlier I can usually scrounge together a decent enough More >
Winning
Nov 8th
Given everything going on in the world of late I wanted to dedicate this column to that which matters most. I’m talking about winning of course. Charlie Sheen was on to something. Winning is great. Whether you’re competing in athletics, politics, eating, blacksmithing, or religion it’s always best when your side comes out on top. With that in mind, here are the big winners of the last few days.
- Nate Silver is the freaking man. In case you’re not in the loop the man who took statistical analysis to the next level in baseball (he invented PECOTA) and runs a fantastic More >

That is all.

I’m Backed Up With Videos
Aug 2nd
It’s that time of the week again. Last Thursday night I got caught up in Ryan Dempster’s sabotage of the Cubs rebuilding efforts so this week know that the videos below have been percolating for a while. I love this batch. It’s like the batch of cookies the Oracle is baking in The Matrix. Take a view of these and you’ll feel right as rain…
- Who doesn’t like Bob Ross? Between this and the video I posted a few weeks ago of Mr. Rogers, I’ve got to say that the good people at PBS Digital Studios have taken it to the next More >
Hot Stove Insomnia
Jul 19th
While waiting to learn where I can forward Ryan Dempster’s mail, I figured I’d put together a quick bunch of links and clips for your viewing enjoyment on a Friday at the office. It’s finally rained here in Chicago and the temperature returned to double digits so there is much to be thankful for. With that in mind I encourage you to keep smiling, keep shining, knowing that you can always count on me, for sure, that what Friday Fun columns are for…

Playing Through
Jul 5th
I received the email below from a friend last week. I’ve spoken to him since and he verified his sources. Basically it boils down to the fact that my friend really has nothing to gain from making it up. He knows two people who were there and they both agree it’s true so again, what is there to gain from lying? I decided to post this today because it’s everything that I aspire to accomplish with my Friday Fun columns. I hope you enjoy it as well, and remember, the world is a ridiculous place, you can spend a lot of time More >
